Objectives
This course covers the competencies and skills identified as key to power UNIX users and developers. The course aims are to give participants a good understanding of the UNIX operating system sufficient to meet the needs of advanced user. Providing hands-on experience, on completion of the course the participants will be able to use a variety of commands, tools and utilities.
Target Audience Power users, programmers and developers working in a UNIX environment. Software and hardware engineers who need a grounding in the UNIX system. System Administrators who will work on UNIX systems.
Topics File Manipulation, File Investigation, File Compression, Backing Up Files, Command Control, Advanced vi Facilities, The sed Utility, The awk Utility.
Prerequisites Familiarity with basic UNIX computing and programming concepts is required as gained from the work environment or by prior attendance on a "UNIX User Introduction" course.
